On a chilly winter day, nothing beats a steaming bowl of peppery pork tripe soup, a fragrant plate of fried rice, and some richly flavored braised duck — the perfect winter comfort trio!
I’ve had lunch at this Chinese restaurant several times and have always enjoyed it, so I decided to try their dinner menu last night—and it did not disappoint! If you’re after authentic Teochew (Chaozhou) dishes, this is the place to go. We ordered the marinated fish skin, Teochew-style braised duck, peppery pork stomach and chicken soup, and the pan-fried oyster omelette. Every dish hit the spot—flavourful, well-balanced, and truly comforting. The service was also attentive and friendly, making the whole experience even better. A little gem tucked away in Mitcham—highly recommended! I’m definitely coming back to try more dishes next time.
Had lunch today and really enjoyed the experience. Great food great atmosphere and attentive service. Great variety of menu choices so will need to be back to try other food.
It is nice to find a traditional Cantonese/Teochew restaurant in the neighbourhood outside of the usual Asian enclaves such as Box Hill, Glen Waverley and Doncaster. Here, you will find the usual boisterous atmosphere of Chinese restaurants as excited conversations fill the air. Wait staff scurrying around to deliver efficient services. The food is in general good. But the braised duck was a tad tough. The portion is small in comparison to the price. But it is still a place worth visiting if you’re craving for hard to find Teochew food such as Oyster Egg Omelette, Pig Stomach soup, Braised Duck and Yam desserts.
Highly recommend this chinese restaurant in Mitcham! The service was outstanding and the seats were comfortable. The food potion is big. Some of the dim sum was a bit expensive. Yet the lunch menu is affordable.
Authentic Canton cuisine. Genuine friendly service. Atmosphere was great with classic Chinese instrumental music. Takes time for dish to arrive but worth the wait. Also serves complimentary dessert after your dishes so don’t over-order like me who simply didn’t even have space for that dessert.
Came here for dinner as recommended by Chinese friends. Stone pot baked quail (9/10) - Nicely cooked and tasted excellent, different to salt and pepper style. Chaozhou marinated tofu and eggs (7/10) - Tasted OK, nothing special. Chaozhou steamed parrot fish (9/10) - Fish was very fresh and cooked the right amount of time. Chaozhou mud crab congee (10/10) - Best dish in my opinion. Peppery chicken soup with ginkgo and hog maw (7/10) - Tasted OK as lack flavours. Different from my preferred Cantonese style pepper soup. Chaozhou-style marinated blue crab (6/10) - Crabs lacked the flavour. Red bean paste pancake with ice cream (9/10) and Chaozhou moji (8/10)- Both freshly made and still hot when served. Service (10/10) - Staffs were friendly, attentive and courteous. Plates were changed multiple times without asking. The one female waitress should receive an excellence award. Ambience (9/10) - Comfy seats, not crowded or noisy. Private dining rooms available too. Price (8/10) - A bit on the higher side for some dishes. Will definitely be back again to try the dim sum lunch.
